Our client, a high tech. startup based on the East Coast wanted to provide advanced integrated voice and data based services to a customer base that has traditionally sourced these two services from independent sources. From evolving quality processes to architecting the final product, Aricent worked with the client, building trust at every step. Leveraging its expertise in Next Generation Switching, a 'ready-resource backup' and proficiency in providing product-consulting services, Aricent was able to take complete technology and product evolution responsibilities. Mobile Satellite Communication Systems Solutions for a leading Broadband Network Provider

Our client, a leading provider of broadband satellite network solutions for corporate and individual consumers was looking for a software solution to implement "Mobile Satellite Communication Systems".
Aricent was chosen to analyze, develop and deploy a robust and scalable software mobile communication solution.

The challenges in this task were multifold. The assignment required an overall system characterization, system implementation and the simulation, testing and integration of various protocol layers of modern satellite communication systems.

Aricent accepted the challenge of foraying into a new technology domain, thus exhibiting its expertise on various protocol layers of modern satellite communication systems.

The project involved a peak-team of 90 engineers with a total of 1.4 million lines of code generated. Aricent delivered excellent on-time solution for Satellite Base Station Software development, GSM Network Management Solution and Multi-mode Handset Software.

Aricent not only earned laurels for this project but was also rewarded by being assigned more projects by the client.

Development of Complete Routing Functionality for a Global North American Player

A North American Data Communication company was aiming at adding complete routing functionality to an existing CSU/DSU box. The client wanted to capture a share of the nascent market from a major competitor. Bagging the project was a challenge for Aricent as the competitor had an edge in the market with an established brand name. Therefore, product differentiation was vital for our client.

Aricent took up the challenge by providing complete IP Routing functionality, CLI and QoS Routing expertise. Restructuring of the core buffer management scheme of the product improved performance figures by 15-20 times.

Aricent earned laurels for its effort in proving its expertise in technologies like IP Routing Protocols (RIP, OSPF, BGP), IP Applications (DHCP, DNS, FTP, Telnet etc.), Layer 2 Technologies and Drivers (FR, Ethernet), Buffer Management, Third Party tools for testing and performance evaluation. This project involved an effort of approximately 100 person months.

Aricent helped the customer with its proven Router Software Development expertise and that went a long way in establishing a very long-term business relationship with the customer. The product is to be deployed in the field by early 2002.

Routing and Bridging Solution for a European Telecom giant

A European telecom organization wanted to cater to the SoHo (Small Office Home Office) market by providing an innovative product that could act as a Wireless Bridge cum Router.

Aricent was thus engaged to play a key role in conceptualizing the software architecture and helped the client by developing a performance product that satisfied a time-to-market need. The assignment also aided Aricent in proving its capability in bridging and routing traffic between IEEE-802.3 Ethernet and IEEE-802.11 Wireless Interface.

The product proved to be a major success with its wireless access and access-point functionality. The project a 60 person-month effort, involved working on advanced technology domains, Device Drivers (Ethernet & Wireless Ethernet), Generic 802.X Link Layer Services, Transparent Bridging, Filtering and ARP functionality and Integration with Layer-3 INET services and Routing Protocols

Network Management Solution for a U.S based company

A USA based company required a wireless access network providing broadband wireless Internet access and telephony services to residential, SoHo, small and medium business customers. Leveraging the full benefits of the new Wireless technology Aricent developed an NM solution enabling the client to leverage the pioneering MIMO-OFDM technology, which uses multiple antennas to both transmit and receive radio signals. MIMO-OFDM is the only technology that allows service providers to deploy a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system that has truly Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) functionality.

Aricent not only ensured a smooth-functioning of this 160 plus person-months project but also delivered the System Manager and Network Manager solutions in record time.

Next Generation Switching Solutions for a US tech company

Our client is a tech company based in East Coast, USA. The client was facing problems in providing advanced integrated voice and data based services to a customer base that has traditionally sourced these two services from independent sources.

Aricent's prime responsibility was to evolve the new proprietary switching fabric firmware, multi-service switch and embedded application software.

Leveraging its expertise in Next Generation Switching, a 'ready-resource backup' and proficiency in providing product-consulting services, Aricent was able to take complete technology and product evolution responsibilities. Aricent set-up a dedicated development facility for the client with state-of-art infrastructure and followed stringent security initiatives to protect the clients' IPRs.
Aricent was involved with the client's engineering team right from the conception phase. Separate teams were set up to handle different phases of the project. 'Firmware down-up' approach was used during the project.

Aricent was successful in handling this complex telecommunication project, both from the management as well as technical perspective.

A Leading Wireless Company based in the US was implementing the Base Station Sub-System for a Satellite based GSM system. The client was looking for a vendor who would undertake the testing of complex Air Interface Specifications and Ground Sub System.

The client outsourced this large-testing assignment to Aricent. Leveraging its expertise in wireless technologies, Aricent was able to take the complete responsibility for System Verification Testing, Release Testing and Customer Witnessed Testing.

An expert team in the field of wireless domain, who were well versed with a broad range of multi-vendor hardware, operating system, language, database, networking and a gamut of communication-protocols was set up to handle the project. Aricent was successful in meeting all the schedules as defined by the client and not only reported many critical and major problems during release testing, but also surmounted the client's expectations by contributing in the inter-operability testing.

Cutting Edge G3 Fax Solutions for a leading Broadband Satellite communication player

The client a leading Broadband Satellite communication player was using a third-party solution and was faced with a limited number of channels. Every additional channel involved an additional licensing fee.

Aricent was chosen to develop software for PES 5000TM, a low cost VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) supporting two-way data communications with an ISBN Hub. With Aricent's G3 fax solutions, HNS was able to cut its costs and thereby also improve its efficiency.

Aricent's integrated voice and fax solutions surpassed all product-offerings from other solution providers, giving our clients additional flexibility. Aricent's G3 fax solutions could also be used as a complete PC based fax machine.
