Aricent response to a Customer survey by IONA contributes more than $5K to UNICEF

Aricent participated in a customer feedback survey on IONA products and services, late last year. For each response to the survey, the company made a charitable donation to UNICEF towards a campaign focussing on mother-to-child HIV transmission in Africa. The response to the survey helped generate $5000.00 for UNICEF.

Gujarat Earthquake - Rehabilitation Efforts

To provide relief and rehabilitation to the earthquake victims of Gujarat, Aricent and its sister companies, Hughes Tele.Com Ltd (HTL) and Hughes Escorts Communications Ltd (HECL) worked out an action plan. While HECL deployed VSAT phones in the affected districts to restore communication links, Aricent and HTL made a contribution in relief materials and funds respectively for providing immediate assistance. To re-build devastated Gujarat, Aricent, HECL and their employees mobilised funds amounting to about Rs.20 lakhs ($43, 478). The contribution to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund was accepted by the Union Minister for Information Technology, Shri Pramod Mahajan.

The Aid Orissa Campaign

The Hughes-Charities Aid Foundation was founded in October 1999 in partnership with CAF India, to rebuild cyclone hit Orissa. Aricent contributed generously to help build cyclone shelters in the Puri and Jagatsinghpur districts in Orissa. These are used as schools by the villages.

Aricent and The Kargil War Relief Fund

The Kargil War saw Aricent donate 17 Lakhs ($36,956) for rehabilitating the families of the deceased or disabled soldiers. The contribution to the Army Welfare Fund was handed over to the Union Minister for External Affairs, Mr. Jaswant Singh.

The Send H2O Campaign

Aricent mobilized funds to the tune of Rs.7 Lakhs ($15, 217) for parched Rajasthan in June 2000, which had been hit by one of the worst droughts of the decade. Apart from in-house contributions by the Aricent family and a matching amount from the Company, we used the corporate website www.Aricent.com to direct contributions to this fund by committing Re 1 for every hit on the disaster relief page on the website.
The funds collected were handed over to URMUL an NGO identified with the help of CAF India to promote rehabilitation and relief work in Rajasthan.

Later, our employee volunteers went and spent time boosting the morale of the affected people and helping them by having the artisans exhibit and sell their crafts at a number of Aricent employee events.
