Aricent Contributions in Standard Bodies

Aricent participates actively in a number of standard bodies and is a member of various technological bodies, keeping pace with and setting standards for our customers.

3GPP
3GPP provides a forum for its Partners to co-operate in the production of globally applicable Technical Specifications and Technical Reports for a 3rd Generation Mobile System based on evolved GSM core networks and the radio access technologies. Aricent has been actively contributing and participating in the 3GPP activities.
 
ETSI
European Telecommunication Standards Institute Membership
Aricent was selected as an associate member of European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI). Aricent received the certificate of membership from Mr. Dieter Kaiser, Chairman of the ETSI Board. This coveted membership allows Aricent access to 'work in progress' ETSI documents and an opportunity to participate in ETSI technical activities. Aricent also gains voting rights, thus acquiring a say in the standardisation process.
 
International Multimedia Telecommunication Consortium
Aricent is an active member of the Telecommunications Consortium, Inc. (IMTC) which is a non-profit corporation comprising of more than 150 companies around the globe.

Dr. Aloknath De, Director at Aricent has been chairing IMTC's Voice Coder Activity Group, headquartered at California. In November 2000, he was elected Vice-President (Asia) by the IMTC Board of Directors, enhancing his active involvement in IMTC's new strategic vision and action plan.
 
International Softswitch Consortium
The International Softswitch Consortium promotes worldwide compatibility and seamless interoperability of softswitch operation. Its members are at the forefront of a technological and market revolution in the communications service industry, and it works to advance the worldwide adoption of next-generation multimedia communications. Aricent is an active member of the International Softswitch Consortium and has been regularly contributing to the worldwide Softswitch consortium activities.

Aricent led the co-ordination of pre-Interop activities for the International Softswitch Consortium MGCP Interop event, held at the University of New Hampshire, USA. The Aricent Call Agent and Gateway simulator was successfully, able to interoperate with all the participating Call Agents.
 
Internet Engineering Task Force
The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is a large open international community of network designers, operators, vendors and researchers concerned with the evolution of the Internet architecture and the smooth operation of the Internet. Aricent is actively involved with the IETF activities.

Arjun Roychowdhury of Aricent has submitted an IETF draft on Internet Personal Applications Control. Internet-drafts are working documents of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), its areas, and its working groups.
 
 
Massachusetts Telecom Council
The Massachusetts Telecom Council is the premier association for telecom and datacom companies in the Boston area. Its active members includes most of the telecom/datacom companies in the area, VCs who invest in such companies, law firms and accounting firms that deal with clients in the industry. Aricent is an active participant in the Massachusetts Telecom Council activities.
 
National Convergence Alliance
The National Convergence Alliance (NCA) is an association of product and service vendors in the convergence industry. The NCA promotes the features of and benefits for deploying convergence technologies. Aricent has been playing a crucial role in the convergence alliance activities.
 
New Jersey Technology Council
The New Jersey Technology Council supports and promotes technology in the state of New Jersey, USA. Aricent has been working with NJTC in its technology initiatives.
 
SIP Forum
The SIP Forum is a non profit association, which provides information about the benefits and capabilities that are enabled by SIP. The SIP Forum accomplishes its mission by posting and generating white papers and by sharing information between service providers, product manufacturers and research institutions. Aricent is an active member of the SIP Forum.
 
Sun - JAIN
Sun - JAIN initiative comprises of Sun, along with its partners, who have developed real applications using Java in Advanced Intelligent Networks that operate across multiple hardware and software platforms. Aricent is a part of the Sun - JAIN initiative.
 
VASA Forum
VASA is a communications industry Forum dedicated to providing the information, communication service providers need to develop and deliver value-added services. VASA is focused on providing independent evaluation of the distributed network intelligence and service control concepts applicable worldwide across PSTN, mobile and IP networks. Aricent is an active contributor to the VASA Forum activities.
