RSTP/MSTP Features

  • Implements the Rapid Spanning Tree algorithm for Rapid Recovery (802.1w), supporting recovery in the order of less than a second
  • Supports Multiple Spanning Tree instances (802.1s) to enable more than one forwarding path by associating one or more VLAN IDs to each of the spanning tree Instance
  • RSTP and MSTP bridges are designed to flexibly interoperate with bridges running in STP/RSTP/MSTP modes
  • Supports all features specified in the draft MIB for RSTP
  • Requires minimum efforts, during integration with external modules (Port Based Network Access Control, Link Aggregation, and VLAN/GARP)
  • A generic set of NP APIs is provided for all the components of RSTP/MSTP for effortless integration with switch hardware
  • Can be easily integrated with several switch hardware
  • Provides support for configuration and management through SNMP and CLI
  • Highly portable code, which uses flexible buffer and timer management libraries
