The Node B Application Protocol (NBAP) by Aricent
enables OEMs
to build Node B and Radio Network Controller (RNC) nodes faster
and at lower cost.
The Node B application part (NBAP) is a control plane protocol
used at the Iub interface and carries signaling traffic to
manage the logical resources at Node B. It forms the basis
for radio network control signaling between Node B and RNC
and handles all procedures between the two elements.
Aricent provides following packages for NBAP:
- Complete NBAP stack for RNC side.
- CODEC Library level interface for Node B and RNC with
simplified APIs exposed to the application.
Stack Architecture
Aricent NBAP stack provides software message based interface
with following components:
- NBAP Application
NBAP application comprises of the user implementation of
the RNC side functionality interfacing with NBAP Module.
- System Management Entity (SME)
This interface is used by the SME for initialization of
the NBAP layer. It is also used for statistics and traces
management of the NBAP layer.
- SAAL(SSCF + SSCCP)
It forms the transport layer for carrying the NBAP messages
to peer entities.
