The RNSAP (Radio Network Subsystem Application Part) stack
by Aricent
enables OEMs to build Radio Network Controller (RNC)
nodes faster and at lower cost.
RNSAP is a control plane protocol used at the Iur interface
and carries signaling traffic to manage the logical resources
at DRNS. It forms the basis for radio network control signaling
between any 2 RNC nodes and handles all procedures between
the two RNCs.
Aricent provides following packages for RNSAP:
- RNSAP stack as a standalone entity
- Complete Iur signalling interface with Broadband SS7
- Complete Iur signalling interface with SIGTRAN
Interfaces
Aricent RNSAP stack provides software message based interface
with following components:

RNSAP Application
RNSAP application comprises of the user implementation on
RNC node interfacing with RNSAP Module.
System Management Entity (SME)
This interface is used by the SME for initialization of the
RNSAP layer. It is also used for statistics and traces management
of the RNSAP layer.
SS7 or SIGTRAN stack
It forms the transport stack for carrying the RNSAP messages
to peer entities.
