NEW DELHI: India's Hughes Software Systems, a leading communications
software maker, has won a $1.5-million order from Danish firm
Thrane & Thrane to design a network solution, a Hughes
official said on Wednesday.
Thrane & Thrane provides equipment for land-based, maritime
and aeronautical communications on the Inmarsat system.
The official, who did not want to be identified, told Reuters
over the phone the contract was a turn-key project and would
be completed in nine months.
"Our software would enable the Inmarsat network to communicate
with other emerging mobile broadband networks more efficiently,"
Manoranjan Mohapatra, chief operating officer at New Delhi-based
Hughes Software, told Reuters.
"The order is both a mix of pre-built telecom products
and software services."
Hughes was quoting 3.5 percent higher at Rs 234.65 on Wednesday
on the Bombay Stock Exchange, whose main index was up 2.17
percent.
