Hughes Software Systems (HSS) annunced on June 4, 2002
the release of its upgraded SIGTRAN suite of protocol stacks
coprising the SCTP software product. The SCTP stack is part
of the complete range of SIGTRAN Suite protocols like M2UA,
M2PA, M3UA, IUA and SUA. The products are available
from HSS in the source code and binary form.
With this new upgraded offering the HSS SIGTRAN
SCTP stack can provide a future-safe robust offering designed
to create value for its customers. The current customers of
HSS are integrating this product with network elements like
Softswitches, Signaling Gateways, Packet SCPs, Application
Servers, 2.5G and 3G Gateways, IP PBXs and others.
The HSS SCTP now provides TCP/UDP (Transmission
Control Protocol/User Datagram Protocol) like Socket interfaces
making it well suited for transport requirements. The SCTP
offering also supports Ipv6 for Next Generation network elements,
SCTP MIB compliance for ease of manageability and extensive
support for security through the implementation of relevant
standards like RFC 2104 for Hashing and RFC 1750 for Randomness.
The HSS SCTP Product enhances the Protocol Level
Redundancy provided by SIGTRAN by adding Stack Level Redundancy.
This helps the rapid development of High Availability Carrier
grade solutions. The HSS SCTP implementation was tested successfully
for interoperability at the ETSI Interop event.
According to Company officials, the HSS Socket
and IPv6 enabled SIGTRAN SCTP helps adapt Next Generation
Communication network elements to employ the benefits of flexible
delivery and reliable transfer within Packet networks.
