Hughes Software exits from RightServe

Saturday, November 10, 2001

NEW DELHI: Hughes Software Systems (HSS) has decided to exit from its Internet advertising Application Service Provider (ASP) business, `RightServe' with immediate effect.

Announcing this decision Mr Manoranjan Mohapatra, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of HSS said, ``Since June 2001, we have been working on bringing in strategic partners who could enhance the long-term potential of the RightServe business. We engaged with a number of entities and tried several options, but none has worked out and hence the decision to exit.''

He said here HSS would work with the existing RightServe customers for a smooth transition that would not affect of their immediate online advertising plans.

"As we look into the future, we can now more clearly focus our attention on the growth of our core business," Mr Mohapatra said.

RightServe was one of the activities undertaken by HSS Bangalore centre, established to focus on solutions and Internet businesses. With the recast of the diversification strategy, this centre will now focus on HSS' core business by building services and products for the service provider segment.
