Hughes Software Systems unveils high performance,
integrated SS7 signaling solution
Cannes, 14th February 2005 - Hughes Software Systems (HSS),
recently acquired by Flextronics and pending legal name change
to Flextronics Software Systems, has announced the launch
of an easy-to-use SS7 platform solution known as nexGen SS7.
This platform allows users to develop applications irrespective
of the underlying network and supports both the legacy (SS7)
and the new (SIGTRAN) network infrastructures.
The solution enables Telecom Infrastructure vendors and Application
Developers to have a smooth and easy transition to high value
IP based networks. The highly flexible nexGen SS7 solution
also facilitates the swift introduction of new services, while
at the same time, allowing users to benefit from the reliability
of existing legacy networks. Easing the application development
lifecycle, nexGen SS7 helps drive cost savings on capital
expense, maintenance, provisioning and management.
nexGen SS7, a binary offering consisting of SS7 and SIGTRAN
stack layers, is easily deployable in any kind of signaling
transport network - IP, narrowband and broadband with no modifications
in the user applications. It comprises a comprehensive set
of easy-to-use User APIs, hiding all the complex protocol
details from the user and also comes with a simple integrated
interface providing configuration and management of the complete
system.
nexGen SS7 offers guaranteed interoperability across multiple
networks and all major leading vendors. The nexGen SS7 platform
comes pre-integrated with the HDC signaling card from ADAX
and it offers one of the best performance figures in the industry
and ultimate scalability. It can be scaled up or down dynamically
and can be configured to support 128 Self Point Codes and
can scale from as low as 2 links to hundreds of links. The
first version is available on Linux.
Elaborating on the launch, Ajay Gupta, Asst. Vice President
& Head-Products, said, "HSS is the leader in the
SS7 and SIGTRAN Source Code space. Our solutions have been
deployed in more than 150 wireless networks all over the world,
in countries like US, UK, Spain, China, Brazil, Thailand,
Russia, New Zealand etc. It is our constant endeavor to create
further value for our customers and this product is just another
step in this direction. With its unmatched price-performance
ratio, it significantly reduces the total ownership cost for
the customer."
Commenting on the power of the HSS and Adax partnership,
Robin Kent, Director, European Operations at Adax said, "The
superior density and performance of the Adax HDC card makes
it particularly suitable for SS7 and SS7 over IP telecommunications
applications that require high capacity and throughput. Performing
thousands of transactions per second with minimal load on
the host CPU, the HDC card maximizes the performance of the
HSS SS7 stack and the customer's network applications, reducing
the cost of ownership without compromising reliability. The
card's excellent performance and the ability to install multiple
boards in one system provides a totally scalable, flexible
and cost-effective solution that enables operators and service
providers to meet the high processing demands of SS7 and IP
signaling generated by consumer demand for new services".
