Flextronics Software Systems expands its offerings for Telecom Service Providers
Announces the launch of FSS Charging Gateway System to enable Data charging for 2.5G & 3G networks

Gurgaon (India), March 2005: Flextronics Software Systems (FSS) has announced the General Availability (GA) of its data charging platform, the FSS Charging Gateway Function (CGF) 1.0. The product is targeted at telecom service providers, for direct deployment into their networks, as well as OEM's for integrating into existing systems. FSS' CGF 1.0 conforms to ETSI's 3GPP standard for 2.5G+/3G networks.

The FSS CGF platform is a self-contained, performance-oriented system that collects raw data from GPRS support nodes in real time, then correlates and processes the data for downstream applications. FSS CGF can exist as a sub-system or as an independent system in multi-redundancy mode and therefore provides a mechanism to transfer charging information from Gateway GPRS Support Node and Serving GPRS Support Node to the network operator's chosen Billing Systems.

Speaking on the availability of this product, Mr. Manoranjan Mohapatra, Chief Operating Officer, Flextronics Software Systems, said, "FSS has a global reputation for developing high value next generation solutions for its customers and business partners in the telecom domain. Commenting on future product development Mr. Mohapatra, added, "Going forward, FSS will continue to set new standards of technology excellence in the telecom industry and expand our product portfolio further. Keeping in line with our product philosophy, future versions of the product will be agnostic to the network and will support CDMA networks as well.."

FSS CGF 1.0 is the first product in FSS' telco data-charging portfolio. The forthcoming products in this portfolio will include FSS CGF 2.0, and the FSS Online Charge and Control System (OCCS) 1.0. FSS's data charging solutions are meant to allow (wireless, wireline, ISP & data com) telco's to enable prepaid VAS services. By having single sign-on & central pre-paid balance capability for all VAS services, they will be able to give to their customers applications such as end user pre-paid gaming, pre-paid Internet access, etc. These applications move revenue generating VAS services from the post-paid domain to the pre-paid domain that dominates today's wireless telco landscape with upto 80 percent subscriber penetration.
