Hughes Software Systems announces Broadband SS7 Stack product

HSS, the provider of high performance SS7 stack now offers the Broadband version of SS7 Stack for the communication world looking for higher speed.

May 20, 1999, New Delhi

Hughes Software Systems (HSS), India’s #1 communications software company, announces the offering of the broadband version of its highly acclaimed narrowband SS7 Stack.

The telecommunication world is going for the integration of voice, video and data which requires higher speed of communication. The communication networks world wide are evolving ways to transform from being a narrowband network to a broadband network capable of providing higher bandwidth. To facilitate this transition HSS has come out with its full set of broadband offerings. At the access side HSS has a complete offering of broadband V5 (commonly called VB5) stacks as well as ATM UNI Stacks. At the network side it now offers the broadband SS7 Stack (B-SS7) complete with the NNI SAAL layer at its layer 2. The protocol suite will facilitate the telecommunication equipment developers to come out with broadband SS7 capabilities very quickly.

Broadband SS7 provides solution for inter working of ATM switching systems at the network interface. It takes inter exchange signaling protocol of narrowband SS7 in to the high speed domain of ATM connectivity. It provides standard signaling interface that enables establishment, maintenance and tear down of bearer channels between two broadband equipment’s at the network interface.

The HSS Broadband SS7 offering consists of protocol entities SAAL ( Signaling ATM Adaptation Layer ), Broadband Message Transfer Part (MTP3-b), B-ISUP to provides basic bearer and supplementary services, B-SCCP to provides connection less and connection oriented signaling connection control services in a broad band network and TCAP to provide the same transaction control as in a narrow band network. HSS offering is such that any combination of these layers can be ordered for as is required by the customer for his services.

"With this broadband SS7 Stack offering along with the various narrowband SS7 stack, the SS7 Stack offering from HSS is now complete’, said Mr. Arun Kumar, President and Managing Director of HSS. ‘This is in line with our commitment to provide a complete solution for a technology area,’ he added.

Hss is now developing a number of interworking functions between narrowband SS7 and broadband SS7 as well as between SS7 (narrow and broad) and ISDN, ATM etc.

HSS had made the first protocol stack product offering in ’97 by its V5 range of protocol stacks. Over the next about two years it has added SS7 Stack for narrowband network with multiple variants, the ISDN stack, the H.323 Stack for the VOIP market and the GR303 Stack for the American market. In the datacom area it offers the Frame Relay stack, the range of ATM Stacks (UNI, NNI, PMP etc) and the full SAAL layers (UNI & NNI). Its expertise in INAP to offer a complete IP product, working experience in mobile technologies, general switching software and TMN facilitates its products to be of international standard. HSS also offers various interworking functions and gateway solutions for the communication networks of tommorow.
