Hughes Software Systems launches a
suite of VoIP software solutions based on H.323 and MGCP

Hughes Software Systems (HSS), India's #1 communications
software company, announced the launch of its H.323 and media
gateway control protocol (MGCP/MEGACO) based software offerings
to enable telcos, OEMs and service providers to offer Voice
solutions over IP (VoIP).
HSS is shipping its H.323 stack product suite to facilitate
communication networks world-wide in utilising the internet
as well as LAN based intranets to transmit voice, video and
real-time data. The product is designed to meet the stringent
requirements of a carrier class solution and will help networks
to pass on the benefits of reduced connectivity charges and
yet assure high Quality of Service (QoS) over packet based
public and private networks.
The H.323 protocol stack suite from HSS contains core protocols
which takes care of registration and admission of user terminals,
call signaling protocols, call control and media streaming,
and optional protocols supporting security features, supplementary
features and Network Management abilities. This suite has
been developed on the H.323 standards of the International
Telecommunication Union (ITU-T).
HSS will deliver by the last quarter of this year the software
solutions for Gatekeeper, Multi conference Unit, MGCP based
Gateway and SS7 signaling gateway to complete the offering.
This will make it uniquely positioned to meet the requirements
of OEMs who will be able to source complete software solutions
from one company. HSS is helping its customers in building
and integrating the complete solution through its custom engineering
services.

HSS also offers voice and video firmware components for H.323
based solutions, like, G.723.1, G.729, G.729A vocoders, VAD/CNG
solutions, G.165/G.168 echo cancellers, tone/DTMF generators/detectors
and H.263 video codecs.
