Hughes Software Systems Unveils One-Stop-Offerings to build Applications for Convergent Network Nodes

Hughes Software Systems (HSS), specialists and world leaders in convergent network software, today announced the availability of its Application Protocol stacks pre-integrated over SS7/SIGTRAN (IP) transports for platform/card/processor providers, system integrators, network equipment manufacturers and application developers.

HSS will provide pre-integrated offerings of MAP over SS7 or IP, CAP over SS7 or IP, RANAP over SS7 or IP, ISUP over SS7 or IP and MEGACO over IP as unique packaged solutions to its customers all over the world. These solutions will enable customers to build applications either for SS7 network nodes or for Next Generation nodes being developed over IP, while allowing the applications to remain unchanged.

HSS' underlying SS7-SIGTRAN transports have unique distributed architectures at multiple levels of signaling, which facilitate support for Redundancy and High Availability in applications, and which address the needs of scalability and load sharing in carrier nodes.

These offerings are targeted at the price-sensitive binary market in which firms prefer to pay royalties on binary sales instead of investing upfront in the purchase and maintenance of source code. These offerings from HSS offer a number of benefits, which include the ability to be configured for a variety of end-architectures, a path for seamless migration to IP networks, shortened time-to-market, significantly reduced cost of ownership, availability of customized performance optimization services, onsite training, 24x7 support and source code or binary options.

HSS' offerings such as SS7, MAP, RANAP, CAP and ISUP have been used for building network nodes such as the Service Control Point, Intelligent Peripheral, Softswitch, Signaling Gateway, 3G SGSN (Serving GPRS Support Node), 3G RNC (Radio Network Controller), HLR (Home Location Registrar), BSS (Base Sub Station), SMSC (Short Message Service Center), monitoring devices and many others.

HSS' SIGTRAN offerings and Voice over Packet stacks (e.g. MEGACO) have been used for building next generation network nodes such as the Media Gateway, Access Gateway, Signaling Gateway, Media Server, Application Server, Service Node, VoP Terminal, Cable call Management Server and Voice over DSL Media Gateway Controller and others.

HSS' SS7 stack has been interoperated successfully with switches from several leading global network infrastructure vendors, and is available for a wide range of country and standard variants. HSS' MAP over SS7 has also been interoperated with over 150 telecom networks worldwide.

HSS is a key participant at the international Voice over Packet bakeoffs, during which HSS's SIGTRAN stacks have been interoperated with offerings from most of the other leading global vendors for Voice over Packet equipment.
