Aricent possesses significant expertise in the field of satellite-based
personal communication systems.
Developed mostly in conjunction with its erstwhile parent
organization - Hughes Network Systems (HNS) - a global leader
in satellite networking and the world's leading vendor of
Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) equipment, Aricent today,
has independently developed distinguished strengths in core
engineering of mobile network components, with specific expertise
in 3G mobile networks, especially the UMTS domain where it
offers custom solutions and products.
Aricent has carved a niche for itself in some highly specialized
fields of satellite technologies, especially in the packet-data
over satellite and high-delay GPRS systems. Starting from
its role as a co-author of the GMR-1 standards, Aricent has
participated as designers, implementers, and testers for several
such systems including the Inmarsat Regional BGAN project,
the Inmarsat BGAN project, and the Thuraya packet system among
several others. Aricent also owns multiple patents and publications
in this field and renders its services to clients, such as
Inmarsat, Thrane and Thrane, and HNS.
Furthermore, owing to its vast experience in the packet data
systems, Aricent has developed a sophisticated set of tools
and methodologies to analyze such systems. Principal of these
systems is the Opnet simulation tool, which has been extensively
used to successfully execute extremely detailed simulations
of complex scenarios over full-fledged simulated networks.
