Turnkey (Hardware + Software)

IP Phone Development for Product Cost Reduction

Aricent and Flex Design have jointly developed a complete turnkey solution for a leading IP telephony and Audio/Video conference equipment manufacturer. Aricent provided the customer end-to-end hardware reengineering, software development, and sustenance services.


New Product Development

SBC Development

Aricent has worked with a European SBC vendor to architect, develop, test, and sustain its complete SBC offering. The SBC solution is considered as the industry leader in terms of SBC feature set and the roadmap. The engagement is spread over more than two years and has evolved into positioning of the SBC functionality in the IMS networks (CSCF).


Testing

Softswitch Testing

Aricent has been involved in the complete testing of the softswitch framework. The key challenges faced during this engagement are as follows:

  • Complex system with numerous open interfaces
  • Integration of numerous protocols suites
  • Wide range of services and interactions
  • Carrier-grade product involving testing for very high reliability and stability
  • Large code size of 3.2 million SLOC
  • Stringent timelines due to time-to-market pressure

Tasks carried out as part of this project are as follows:

  • Testing of interworking and synchronization of various domains, such as the traditional PSTN networks, packet data networks and interface to packet cable domain
  • Testing of various services and their interactions
  • Development of test environments and scripts, using tools, such as East (for services, MGCP, NCS, and H.323), STATE (for MEGACO and TGCP) and K1297 for SS7

SIP Server Framework (SIP SF) Testing

Aricent has been involved in testing the SIP SF functionality extensively for a key customer. The project scope included the development of:

  • Proxy
    • Stateful as well as stateless transactions
    • Complete implementation as per RFC 3261
  • Registrar
    • ODBC interface to an external database
    • Default PostgreSQL Location Service
  • Digest Authentication
    • Complete implementation as per RFC 2069
  • DNS and LDAP Lookup services
  • SIP Load Balancing
  • High Availability - 1:1 Hot-standby


Sustenance

Voice Optimized Media Gateway

Aricent has been working with the largest US router and switch OEM to provide sustenance and testing services for their prestigious Media Gateway program. This will be the first 24x7 support offering from the OEM to be outsourced to any vendor to support their customers in 30 countries across five continents. This shall involve Tier 2 and Tier 3 support with direct interactions with the end customers, which are world’s leading service providers.

Voice Enabled Multi-Service Switches

Aricent has also been working with the above-mentioned customer to provide sustenance and testing services for their voice enabled multi-service Switch program. Aricent has been involved in release support, bug fixing, and feature additions for this existing platform based on the customer’s proprietary OS and hardware.
