Aricent has built considerable expertise in a

GPRS, WAP, Bluetooth, CDPD and FWL technologies.
GSM
Aricent has built significant expertise in GSM technologies through
major involvement in engineering of terrestrial and mobile
satellite based communication system assignments. Aricent has
undertaken numerous assignments requiring the development
of a major portion of the software for the Satellite Base
Station including the air interface protocol stack, call control
and distribution executive, resource and network management
module and the Operations and Maintenance centre software.

GPRS
Our suite of High Speed Mobile Data offerings allow mobile
infrastructure vendors to leapfrog from second generation
mobile technologies to 2G+ and third generation (3G) technologies.

UMTS
We at Aricent
are committed to spearheading the evolution to the
3rd Generation of mobile communication - UMTS, that will deliver
high-value broadband information, commerce and entertainment
services to mobile users via fixed, wireless and satellite
networks. Aricent offers commercial off-the-shelf UMTS products
backed by comprehensive expertise enabling you to meet your
product commitments and commercial deployment schedules faster
irrespective of the economic and regulatory delays.

WAP
Aricent , realising the tremendous market potential,
has identified WAP as a thrust area and has been working in
this domain for a considerable time now. The WAP development
at Aricent took place in two phases. The first phase consisted
of developing a WAP client and Gateway Prototype. The second
phase emphasised on the development of the WAP client software
as a product.

Bluetooth
Aricent developed Bluetooth protocol layers are integrated over
a third party implementation of baseband and LMP layers -
like Ericsson Bluetooth Development Kit (EBDK). The Aricent Bluetooth
Stack Implementation has been successfully demonstrated for
the following profiles Service Discovery Application Profile
and Serial Port Profile.

CDPD
Aricent got involved in the CDPD Project as early as
1993. Owing to Aricent'searly success, HNS awarded the complete
CDPD development work to Aricent . In 1995, CDPD
systems were extensively deployed in the US Market and the
CDPD Forum was formed. Aricent engineers were active members of
the CDPD forum and helped HNS maitain leading market position
in the US cellular market.

FWL
Aricent first venture in the wireless products was
started with the development of a Multi Subscriber Unit for
HNS for its Fixed Wireless (FWL, also known as Wirelss Local
Loop) product line which started in the year 1992. Subsequently
Aricent was involved in the development of the Single Subscriber
Unit (SSU) and switching interfaces between the wireless BSS
GMH2000 and Alcatel's OCB switch, NEC's NEAX61E and NEC's
NEAX61 sigma switch. Aricent ported its own product
V5.2 protocol suite on the GMH2000 for its integration with
NEC's NEAX61 sigma switch. The latest addition to the list
of switches integrated is that of Lucent's 5ESS switch.

EDGE
The explosive demand for mobile communications is rapidly
paving the way for GSM operators to develop new applications
that bridge GSM and TDMA networks into third generation technology.
We at Aricent provide solutions that introduces a new modulation
technique through Enhanced data for GSM Evolution (EDGE) that
would offer 3G mobile internet solutions using the existing
infrastructure.

Mobile Handset Application
Aricent has comprehensive expertise on developing software for
user terminals including - MMI, protocols, device drivers,
telephony applications, DSP - vocoders, channel coding algorithms,
diagnostics and testing of chip-sets. Taking this further,
Aricent forays into developing applications for mobile handsets.
Aricent has over 100 person months of experience in development
of handset applications besides expertise in providing handset
protocol stacks. The handset applications developed by Aricent
include
- Multi-lingual support for satellite cellular Thuraya handsets
- User interface for tri-mode satellite cellular phones
- Small footprint WAP browser for user terminals, currently
used by European handset manufacturer
- Integrating GSM SIMAP into tri-mode phone for a customer
- Enhancement and integration of GSM SIMAP for a GPRS terminal
(for a satellite based GPRS network)
- Development of a client-server application on EPOC
Aricent has in-depth experience of the wireless communication
technologies. By virtue of this experience, Aricent has an advantage
of grasping the technical requirements as well as end user
needs enabling Aricent to provide superior solution to the customer.
