Over the past several years, communication technologies have
both stimulated and enjoyed a level of economic growth that
is stunning. At the same time, they have created a landscape
of offshore outsourcing that becomes more complex and competitive
with every passing day. Aricent
realizes the importance of protecting clients' IPR in offshore
projects and has well-defined Strategic Outsourcing Services
processes and guidelines in place aimed at helping customers
of offshore projects to make the most of their intellectual
property.
All throughout a customer-engagement especially in offshore
projects, whatever is shared with Aricent - be it in the form
of documents (RFP, design documents, requirement documents,
interface control docs, test-plans etc), software tools, hardware
tools, code, information through e-mails, conversations etc.
comes in the purview of intellectual property and Aricent follows
an elaborate procedure for ensuring adequate protection of
this intellectual capital. Protecting these areas requires
security awareness together with stated security goals and
objectives for both the physical and logical business domains
in offshore projects.
Information Security Initiatives: Keeping your IPR Secure
The customer IPR's in offshore projects are protected through
various means:
- Various levels of confidentiality agreements
- Legal Protection - Indemnification for any slip-ups
- Aricent Security Policy - ISO 17799 Code of Practice for Information Security has been used as the reference guideline to define security policy for Aricent
- Regular training / workshops on Information Security Management
Aricent's IPR protection policy applies to its facilities, intangible
assets, services and personnel at all Aricent locations. It is
the policy of the company to ensure:
- That security risks to employee, intellectual capital
and assets are identified in offshore projects, considered,
recorded appropriately and managed
- That reasonable and cost effective measures are taken
to protect the employee, intellectual capital and assets
from loss, damage or impairment in offshore projects
- That contingency plans for security emergencies are drawn
up, kept under review and periodically tested
- That, having regard to legal, statutory and Aricent requirements
and interests, vital and sensitive information in offshore
projects is determined and protected from loss, unauthorized
disclosure or modification by control of access to it and
through accountability for its possession by the holder
