Aricent Edge Gateway Toolkit (EGT) provides
the shortest path to realize the low port density SIP-based
edge gateways used in residential and small and medium
businesses (SMBs) and passive optical network (PON)
-based optical network terminal (ONT). EGT supports
a ready set of voice supplementary services, POTS adaptation
ability, NAT traversal, and Fax support ability. It
is built over an optimized, low-footprint SIP layer;
with scalability and readiness on reference semiconductor.
EGT is much more than a SIP layer; it
is a gateway enabler toolkit that is reliable, architecture
and platform independent, and easily customizable onto
any customer-specified hardware platform. It handles
the complexity of SIP signaling, media and client management
procedures, and provides simple application level operations
to the application developer. EGT provides much higher
abstraction, simpler and fewer APIs, and has silicon
ready reference design. EGT has successfully undergone
software-to-software interoperability testing.
EGT enables rapid development of solutions
requiring inter-working, with SIP interface on one side
and any other protocol interface on the other (SIPtoX).
EGT provides interfaces to the application
clients for the following functions:
Signaling: SIP Session control
and management, which is SIP standard compliant (RFC3261)*
Media: EGT provides APIs for media
manager interface and can be integrated with a third
party media manager. The media interface supported by
IP Phone Toolkit has support for audio, T.38, DTMF through
2833 and video.
Management: EGT provides configuration
APIs, and remote management and troubleshooting support
(extensive statistics collection; error reporting; multi-level
tracing support). It also supports run time user driven
configuration.

EGT is capable of supporting up to 256 phone lines.
EGT allows you to host multiple applications simultaneously.
This enables the development of new applications for
enterprise communication, gaming, and entertainment.
Further, Aricent EGT supports adding, deleting, rejecting
new media stream in mid session. It enables auto configure
download, activation, firmware upgrade tracking. EGT
also facilitates extensive statistics collection, error
reporting and multi-level tracing support.
