Aricent Media Terminal Toolkit
(MTT) provides the shortest path to realize wireline
and Wi-Fi IP phones, video phones, and other IP multimedia
terminals such as a unified multimedia terminal or a
soft client running on a PC/Wi-Fi cellular dual mode
phone. It supports a ready set of voice supplementary
services, T.38 fax service, multiple line, voice mail
and other services with high quality software pieces
for VoIP termination.
MTT is built over an optimized, low-footprint
Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) layer; with readiness
on reference silicon for telecom vendors. It is an application
enabler toolkit that is reliable, architecture and platform
independent, and easily customizable onto any customer-specified
hardware platform. MTT provides much higher abstraction,
and simpler and fewer APIs. We have successfully tested
reference applications, built using MTT, for interoperability
in SIPIts and industry bakeoffs.
Aricent MTT has been successfully integrated
with the leading 3rd party media managers.
Our MTT toolkit enables the following
functions:
- Signaling functionality: SIP
Session control and management, which is SIP standard
compliant (RFC3261)*
- Media functionality: MTT provides
APIs for media manager interface and can be integrated
with a third party media manager. The Media Interface
supported by MTT has support for audio, T.38, DTMF
through 2833 and video.
- Management functionality:MTT
provides configuration APIs, and remote management
and troubleshooting support (statistics collection;
error reporting; multi-level tracing support). It
also supports run time user driven configuration.

Aricent MTT provides an OEM/ODM with almost
ready to use software, requiring little development
which helps in reducing time-to-market for feature-rich
telephony applications. The modular architecture of
MTT is capable of supporting multiple phone lines. MTT
allows you to host multiple applications simultaneously,
which enables the development of new applications for
enterprise communication, gaming, and entertainment.
Further, MTT supports adding, deleting, rejecting new
media stream in mid session. Its modular architecture
and multiple configurations enable easy portability
across different hardware platforms and OS.
