MEGACO based Media Gateway Toolkit

Multiple Gateway Control protocols exist today in different stages of evolution necessitating selection of the right protocol for current product definitions and an easy migration path to support new protocols. Aricent recognizes this challenge and offers solutions to safeguard the investments being made today.

Media Gateway Toolkit

Aricent's offering for Media Gateway solutions is available in different packages that provide flexibility to pick the solution that best meets customer requirements.

A higher value solution is offered through the Media Gateway (MG) Toolkit that hides the syntactic and semantic details of protocol processing from the application. A platform independent software building block, it provides the complete protocol processing function for different gateway control protocols and a generic interface to all other Media Gateway functions. The generic interface provides a simple mechanism to replace one gateway control protocol by another in future. The time to market is reduced for the application, which just needs to focus on the application profile and the implementation of platform interfaces.

Aricent's Media Gateway Toolkit

The Media Gateway Toolkit consists of two components:

  • Protocol Stack
  • Protocol Processing Component

Both these components are closely tied with the protocol definition and separate implementations are provided for MEGACO and MGCP. However, the interfaces of these components with the other modules in a media gateway are shared. This enables one toolkit to be replaced by another without any significant change in the application.
