What is nexGen SS7?
nexGen SS7 is an integrated binary offering providing
SS7 and SIGTRAN support. It quick-starts application
development and reduces time and cost to market. It
provides ensured interoperability across vendors and
networks.
How is it different from other stacks?
nexGen SS7 is much more than simple layers of SS7 or
SIGTRAN stacks. It provides the following benefits over
plain stacks -
- Stacks arranged in integrated fashion in diverse
combinations where each combination enables a particular
network component, such as HLR, SMSC, MSC etc.
- Offers pre-integrated management and multiple ways
of configuration/provisioning.
- Tested for unmatched performance and ultimate scalability.
- Targets new age SS7 networks - combination of narrowband,
broadband and IP.
- Reduces total cost of ownership due to unrivalled
flexibility.
How many SS7 links can the platform support?
While the platform can theoretically support thousands
of links, it has already been benchmarked for over 300
links.
What is the product roadmap?
The product has a strong roadmap for the next 5 years.
Specific features have already been defined for the
next one year.
Is it tied to a specific platform and hardware card?
No. The platform has been built so as to keep it platform
and hardware card independent.
Currently, it comes pre-integrated with -
Signaling card ADAX (Interphase - Future)
Platform Solaris and Linux (HP-UX - Future)
What are the benefits offered by this platform over
similar offerings from other vendors?
The platform offers unmatched performance obtained through
months of rigorous lab testing and optimization. It
provides you with a favourable performance-to-price
ratio thereby reducing your total cost of ownership.
nexGen SS7 platform also offers seamless migration from
SS7 to SIGTRAN and vice versa. Once the customer's application
has been integrated over platform, it can be used to
communicate with both SS7 as well as IP networks.
Aricent's latest platform also offers ensured interoperability
across vendors and networks. Its biggest benefit comes
in terms of SIGTRAN interoperability, which cuts down
both time as well as cost to market for the customer.
What is the difference between a development license
and a production license?
A development license is used for developing application
over nexGen. This license is valid for use in labs and
test environments. It includes necessary software files
as well utilities that aid application development.
A deployment license, on the other hand is meant for
usage in the field. It needs to be purchased by a customer
when the application is ready and the complete solution
is ready to be deployed on a live network.
